Dr Goetz Langer of HOPPECKE will explain why pure lead batteries are well suited to renewable energy storage in remote, off-grid communities, including their ability to operate across a wide range of temperatures without costly thermal management, and their potential to support circular systems with high recycling rates. The webinar will present technical findings from Partial State of Charge (PSOC) and Full State of Charge (FSOC) testing carried out under real-world operating conditions, and discuss how battery design, novel additives, and the physical and chemical properties of batteries and their constituents can optimise cycle life. The results demonstrate the potential of pure lead VRLA-AGM batteries as a viable, low-maintenance storage solution, not only for the LoCEL-H2 project, but also for much wider application.
